However I feel I could have done a lot better if I/we had planned more realistically and not picked such a difficult video to work on at the start. This section needs additional citations for verification. In conclusion, I am pleased with the final product. I feel as though I could have done a more adventurous video if I/we had planned it enough. Other videos had a lot more work put into whereas ours was just a guy dancing in room. What I like least about our product is that it's rather minimalist. Our biggest worry was actually finishing the project so it's a real success that we finished. What I like most about our final product is that it was finished. This is also something I will learn from if I do a similar project for A2 media However, this meant we learnt from our mistakes so that when it came to Lotus Flower, we knew exactly what we were doing.
We did not plan our first video enough and did not have enough time to film it. The thing we learnt most from our project was time management. Elliot came in early the following morning to finish the project. Nearly all was done that night apart from the mp3 file needed to be added. The only option left was for me to stay behind and do the editing myself.
We needed to edit on a particular mac, yet this mac was not free all day. This was because we now fully knew how we were going film it. When shooting we managed to get everything done within 45 minutes.
The best way to do it was to film the whole thing three times at the three different angles, shooting three takes of each angle. In our next lesson Elliot worked on the storyboard whilst I did the choreography, figured out lighting, and got hold of the new props. I quickly managed to change casting to someone more willing and brave to do such a stupid dance. We searched the internet until we came across "Lotus Flower". We realised we needed to do something fairly simple that we could film in one hour. "This Is Gospel" was no longer possible to do. This was we only had two weekdays to film and edit the video. The following Thursday, Elliot and I decided to change video. I managed to get surgical scrubs, gloves and masks yet we couldn't find oxygen masks and scalpels etc that wouldn't put us out of pocket. We realised we HAD to re-shoot another day but non of us were free at the same times.Īs well as the takes being too long and incredibly bad, another problem we faced was getting hold of many props featured in the video. Beth didn't stop recording between takes so our clips were around 3-6 minutes long, with one take 18 minutes long. Another problem we had later on was that our takes were simply too long. Getting a steady camera movement was incredibly difficult even with a crane supporting it.
However, when it came to shooting we didn't realise how difficult the whole thing was. We took two lessons to plan everything (around 2 hours) and shot on the following Monday. I was in charge of getting various props, lyrics and timings, and casting as well as lighting on the actual shoot, Beth was in charge of the stroyboard and operating the camera whilst Elliot was also working on getting props and other miscellaneous roles. However this did not go to plan and we ended up doing "Lotus Flower" by Radiohead.īefore we started planning the video, we all assigned each other roles. This was not a video I had ever seen before so first I had to familiarise myself with it. For our music video recreation task, my group chose to do "This Is Gospel" by Panic! At The Disco.
